Andries is Managing Director for Global Digital Factory at Aviva. He is responsible for driving Aviva’s global innovation agenda focusing on digital products, digital partnerships and digital technology as well as the digital businesses and strategy in Asia.
With vast experience working in myriad organisations across continents, Andries’ career has always centred on ‘digital’ and ‘transformation’. From digital startups to multi-nationals, the likes of PwC, Morgan Stanley and RBS, whether based in South Africa, the UK, Canada or Asia, Andries has remained focused on delivering sustainable value from strategy through to execution.
Prior to his current role, Andries has also held various positions at Aviva, including Group Integration Director advising on the acquisition of Royal Bank of Canada Insurance and Friends Life, and Transformation Director leading the Digital setup and transformation. Andries was previously the Commodities Controller at Morgan Stanley responsible for building a new Dry Freight ‘physicals’ business. In between his corporate career, Andries also founded and exited multiple digital startups, including Rent-a-Quad, Redenaars, Habittool and SME Discounts.
Professional qualifications and memberships
Andries qualified as a Chartered Accountant and completed his training in PwC. His professional experience as auditor, transformation and integration specialist as well as digital entrepreneur gives him a unique advantage in driving organisational transformation and value.
