Margaret Oyugi is an Actuarial & Data Analytics Expert with over 8 years work experience in the Kenyan insurance industry having worked as an Actuarialist with Resolution Insurance, Jubilee Insurance and Octagon Africa. She has also worked closely with leading consultancy firms including PWC, Alexander Forbes, Actuarial services (Actserv), Deloitte and Ernest and Young on actuarial valuation projects during the span of her career.
She is passionate about Data Analytics and how companies can take advantage of understanding their data for better insightful decision making.
In 2017, she was awarded the young insurance achiever award in the annual insurance award held by Think Business in partnership with Association of Kenya Insurers (AKI). This award was given in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the insurance sector and for her passion to shed light in areas where insurance companies are struggling to find solutions to enhance their penetration levels as well as their profitability. The award recognized her continuous effort in proposing futuristic solutions not only to the Kenyan insurance sector but to all insurance companies world-wide. In October 2017, she was named one of Kenya’s top 40 under 40 women for her outstanding track record of excellence in various areas of her professional career as well as her mentorship to young actuarial talent. This has helped many graduates be able to join and grow in the actuarial profession which has yielded several actuarial professions now serving in different companies in Kenya.
She holds a BSc in Actuarial Science degree from Makerere University and is a member of both the Institute and Faculty of actuaries, UK and The actuarial society of Kenya. She is also a CFA level 2 candidate.
