The Digital Insurer Startup InsurTech Award
Vigi is an on-demand insurance for the things Millennials love.
Vigi has been developed based upon the insight that Millennials are not interested in traditional insurances that there are out there today. Millennials are not interested in non-flexible, big insurance packages and care the most about a couple of belongings. This is why Vigi is offering on-demand insurance for the most important stuff Millennials own, like their smartphone, camera or laptop. With this solution people only insure their important belongings when they want it and for the time period they want it.
Furthermore, Vigi found that there is a implicit interest for managing all of this through a mobile app. Therefore the on-demand and on-item insurance is offered through a mobile distribution and service app, where users can apply/buy the insurance, manage the insurance and contact Vigi.
Going live in the iOS App Store on May 31, 2017, Vigi welcomed thousands of users in its first year. The proposition is developed following the Lean Startup approach and is moving towards a larger platform where Millennials can manage relevant insurances. It is thus projected that Vigi will launch a disruptive form of Travel Insurance later this year.
Vigi is a autonomous startup, funded by VIVAT, one of the larger insurance companies in the Netherlands. The development is done together with partner companies and VIVAT's innovation center to bring in the right mix of skills and experiences in the cross-functional team.
At Vigi we believe we have a shot for the Digital Insurer's Startup Insurtech Award as we are shaking up the Dutch insurance market with our proposition. Things that we have accomplished and are proud of:
- Monthly growth in 2018 has been high with 8 to 10% monthly growth of the user base.
- 90% of frequent customers would be disappointed if Vigi wouldn't be there anymore.
- Reached a higher app sales conversion compared to industry benchmark of 5%.
- 90% of customer communication goes via chat
- Customers can file a claim and track progress through the app
- We're probably the only insurance company in the world reminding our customers to switch off their insurance
We are confident that we created something relevant and hopefully the Jury agrees on this. Regardless of the outcome, we with team Vigi look forward to the road that will lead to the nomination and possibly winning the Award.
